Painted Walls At Last!

After checking MyMetricon everyday, the painting completion date seemed to be pushed back further and further. Well, as of Saturday we finally have painted walls! We're not sure when they're painting the feature walls, but we're just glad to see something get done. It was very upsetting to see only painted ceilings just a week ago (the day we had the Victory Blinds appointment) when it was meant to be all finished. The tiling should be completed by 12/06/09, but I doubt that will be the case. Lazy bastards. We have only 3 weeks to go, people!

Our appointment with Victory Blinds went well. We added a few extra blinds here and there - stairs, entry door sidelights and ensuite window. To fit our plantation shutters on our wood-framed windows (master bedroom and theatre room), we have to cut out the lever that seals the window from incoming drafts (circled in red). Either that or you can fit the shutters on top of the architraves, which I don't think will look too good. We could just get a pair of pliers if we want to tighten the seal or hang thick drapes.

We chose an off-white colour (Dulux Sago Quarter) for our walls and it looks good against the really white ceilings (from what we could see through the windows!). The difference in colour is obvious. Nothing worse than picking 2 shades of white that look a little too close to each other.

We thought of numerous ways of breaking into the house just to have a look, but we thought maybe not! A good thing we have big windows throughout so we managed to sneak a few shots from outside. I felt like a paparazzi at work. Although I think I need to perfect my craft. I'll bring a ladder next time.

Cracks in the foundation - is this normal?

More cracks - this better be normal!

You're so NOT square! Still hasn't been fixed but has been painted over!

I've added 3 links to the sidebar under 'Final Plans' showing all our Colours and Selections. Have a look:

Wow G&A, love your wall colour! The house really looks like it is coming along. Unfortunately, this bit jsut seems to take forever!
Why does there appear to be ceiling frame over your garage door pic? It looks like they have not put the plaster on the ceiling??
Fingers crossed that they get a move on for you. There is a metricon house up the road from us that was at plaster when our slab was poured in January and they still aren't in!

Cheers

Hi Tim. Yes it finally looking like a house. The progress has been really slow this past few months...it's annoying!

Good luck with your building adventure!

we've only left the deposit a week ago, so I've been diving into your posts from '08 to check how the colour and electrical appointments go - actually the colour appointment kind of scares me as there' so many decisions to be made, so I've told my other half to start deciding on colours from now!

any updates to your blog? you're so close to finishing up!

and another note, your facade looks so good it help us make up our mids on our facade, we're building the nolan with the chateau facade now, which has the cladding on first floor kind of like yours :)

Hi Tim, glad to know we've inspired you! I somehow don't think much about our facade but I think it will look better once the landscaping comes in. Would love to see the progress of your house!

Hi Anonymous, yay another Liberty owner! I'm so happy to know our blog is helping others :) We used Housepect to inspect our house - http://www.houspect.com.au/

We're hoping to visit the house this week so we can post pics of our tiles! We haven't been able to visit since they started.

Regards,

Thanks for the information. It will be really beneficial if you can please provide us with the name of the inspector. As the person has done the inspection on a similar house, i belive it will be benefical to use that person. I also recommend you guys actualy get some reference benefits from metricon. your blog certainly was a big factor in our decision to choose liberty...

Hi Sandeep, to be honest I really can't remember his name! I do think that he was not thorough enough as he missed a few things. A lot of bloggers have recommended Big Kev from www.newhomeinspections.com.au and we will be going with him for our handover inspection.
